An Unforgettable Adventure at PGL Osmington Bay
21 May 2024

Early on Wednesday,15 May, our excited Years 3, 4, and 5 pupils departed from MSJ for their much-anticipated three day residential trip to PGL Osmington Bay in Dorset. Travelling by coach, they arrived just before lunch at an amazing site on the Jurassic Coast, with stunning sea views and Portland Bay in the distance. The weather could not have been more perfect, with blue skies and sunshine creating a lovely atmosphere upon their arrival.

The girls experienced a host of exciting activities! They faced their fears and conquered challenges like abseiling, zip wires, and giant swings. On the water, they tried their hand at stand-up paddleboarding and enjoyed orienteering sessions that tested their navigation skills. Each activity was met with enthusiasm and courage, making for an action-packed and memorable experience.

One of the highlights of one evening activity was a beach walk where the girls let their creativity shine by crafting creatures from natural materials. They were very lucky to find some incredible fossils, as the Jurassic coast is the only place on Earth where rocks from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods can be seen in one place, representing 185 million years of Earth’s history.

We were looked after throughout our stay at Osmington Bay by our hosts, the fantastic PGL staff.  A special mention goes to our brilliant Team Leader, Rob, whose dedication and energy were a true credit to PGL. The girls showed not only their adventurous spirit but also impeccable behaviour, earning positive feedback from everyone they encountered. The combination of thrilling activities, beautiful weather, excellent facilities, and outstanding staff made it an experience we’ll cherish forever. The girls did MSJ proud.

“I wanted to take the chance to say an enormous thank you to you and the other members of staff for last week. Charlotte’s never been away from home on her own before and has traditionally been quite reserved when it comes to activities. I can honestly say I think she’s had the best time ever! She said she gave everything a crack and she genuinely loved every second, even when she felt nervous about an activity. She’s not stopped talking about it all weekend, so thank you thank you thank you from us for taking such good care of them all and giving Charlotte such an amazing experience.”
